Many people would like to use their vision benefit to purchase sunglasses without prescription. In most cases, this is not allowed by the insurance provider.
With regards to prescription sunglasses, we find that many people would like to have the lens technology the manufacturer provides. When we go through an Rx program by the manufacturer, most often the benefit is considered a specialty lens and does not fall within the normal parameters of benefit; therefore, the benefit is less than expected.
To maximize your benefit, we recommend using your insurance on your every day pair of glasses and pay out-of-pocket for your active eyewear or sunglasses. If you choose to use your insurance, the lens features will not be the same, as the lenses the manufacturer provides is proprietary and must be provided by them.
We strive to ensure that you understand your insurance coverage and will answer any questions you may have regarding your benefits.
Here is a list of the main vision plans we accept: VSP, EYEMED, MES, RISK. There are many other plans, such as union plans, that we do accept. We do not accept Davis or Spectera.

Flexible Spending Accounts
Many employers are offering Flexible Spending Account (FSA) options to employees. Sometimes these are referred to as cafeteria plans and are elective, supplemental insurance savings plans. These plans are designed to let you save money in an account, pre-tax, to pay for additional medical expenses such as eye exams, glasses, contacts, and often laser vision surgery. Check with the benefits administrator at your work to see if you are eligible for this program. FSAs can typically be used in conjunction with any vision insurance plan to offset any out-of-pocket costs on your behalf.
