Contact Lenses

"I don't think I can wear contact lenses!"

Don't give up or give in!  Chances are, you can.    20/20 Vision is a leader in contact lenses.  We fit the latest technologies.   Due to recent advances in 1 day contact lenses, the vision is sharper, the comfort is greater, and the stability is excellent for sport.  Because of the improvement in peripheral vision and the limitation of helmets, we will always recommend contact lenses over glasses for athletes.  Because we are leaders in our profession, we fit the most difficult cases.   Some of the best lenses that we fit are:

Acuvue Oasys 1 Day.   This lens provides excellent comfort and clarity for athletes.  See Acuvue.com for more information.  This lens is available for far-sightedness (hyperopia), near-sightedness (myopia) and astigmatism in a wide range of parameters.

Acuvue Oasys

Dailies Total 1 .   This water-gradient lens  from Alcon fits a wide range of vision problems, including presbyopia, (that over 40 near range vision problem!).  See www.dailies.com for more information on this lens that "feels like nothing" in your eye!

Why 1-Day contact lenses?

Nothing truly beats a fresh, new contact lens on the eye each day. 1-Day contact lenses are designed for one day of wear and thrown away at night. This is ideal for sensitive/dry eyes, athletes, kids, outdoor enthusiasts and overall anyone looking for the perfect combination of eye health and convenience. Imagine not having the burden of cleaning your contact lenses, carrying solutions/cases and remembering when to throw old lenses away!

Ask your eye doctor about trialing some 1-Day contact lenses at your next appointment!

20/20 Specialty Clinic: Medically Necessary Contact lenses

Our doctors fit specialty contact lenses which treat medical conditions, such as keratoconus, post-surgical ectasia, irregular astigmatism and corneal transplants.

Scleral

Scleral Lenses are gas permeable, large diameter contact lenses that are considered specialty lenses. This is because they are custom designed for each individual patient. They are designed to rest on the white part of the eye and completely vault over the cornea, leaving it untouched. They are particularly helpful for patients with corneal irregularities such as keratoconus / pellucid / refractive surgery complications, or with ocular surface diseases such as extreme dry eye. They tend to be the largest of all contact lenses, though there are smaller scleral lenses as well.

Hybrid

The indication of Hybrid lenses overlap with both traditional RGPs and sclerals. Which works best varies from eye to eye and your doctor will determine which is best for your case. Hybrid’s have a hard center, to get the optics and benefits of a hard lens with a soft skirt which gets you the comfort of a soft lens.

Rigid Gas Permeable

Traditional gas permeable lenses are small plastic lenses that are permeable to oxygen. They tend to be smaller than the cornea and rest on the cornea. They provide better vision than soft lenses and are replaced less often. They have fallen out of popularity with soft lenses but still have a place for patients with irregular corneas that prevent them from getting good vision with soft.
